Cover Reveal: The Blade In The Blizzard, by Luís Falcão de Magalhães

Welcome to a special cover reveal!

We have the pleasure of help reveal the cover of The Blade In The Blizzard, a new short story set in Elessia, the world created by Luís Falcão de Magalhães, whose series we've been enjoying on this blog!

Let's take a look at the blurb first:

When Viktor’s best friend comes calling with a quest to explore an uncharted isle, he is quick to seize the opportunity for adventure and glory.

But when their party reaches the icy island, the expedition takes a dark turn. Old powers make their home there, and they do not take kindly to trespassers.

Yet when all seems lost, Viktor finds an ancient artifact amidst the growing blizzard…

I had the pleasure of reading this short story pre-publication, and it's perfect mix between adventure and dark fantasy, a quest story that allows our main character to find his strength when all is lost. A well balanced short story which also explores more of the vast world that is Elessia.

The story can be obtained for free in this link (perfect for when you want a bite of great fantasy). Remember to check the Elessia webpage for more short stories!

The cover has been designed by João Emanuel Santos (Twitter account).

Luís Falcão de Magalhães

My name is Luis, and I’m the black sheep of the family.

Born the scion of a household of magistrates and physicians, I was groomed from a young age to meet those expectations. I threw the chain of office away and became a bard instead.

I’ve since traveled the breadth of my homeland, picking up tales here and there. I’ve dined with aldermen and drank firewater with vagabonds; I’ve sung moonlit serenades to hussies and taken the daughters of wealthy merchants to grand balls. I’ve joined secret orders, learning their lore and passphrases; I’ve locked arms with tree-huggers and danced with them under the full moon. But two things sing to my soul like nothing else.

One, the roll of the dice, be it on the wood of the tabletop or within the shards of magical glass that are everywhere in our society.

Two, the tales of daring, of heroism and valor, of wickedness and deceit, to be found among the dusty tomes of the world’s libraries.

To contribute to those, I have made my life’s work.
